Champion InfoMetrics Private Limited - An organization which was launched in the period of insecurity where lay-offs were rampant. Prathima J.Moras joined this company of champions and has been a great asset since the past 13 plus years. An exciting journey uncovered as I got talking to this lady in the conference room which looked like an art studio. Read on to find out the interesting journey of growth within her and the organization.
Noticed performance at every step
She says every employee who joins
the company is called a champion. The name itself sets them on a rolling spree.
Every achievement of the champions is rewarded in the monthly recognition
process based on grades. The rewards are personalized and the recognition in this
format has always boosted performance. The top performers are recognized with
their family members in the rewards recognition parties which takes place every
quarter. They are addressed to as super champions or superman/superwoman. The
top performers get a chance to travel abroad even at beginning stages of their
career. She says when she got this
reward for the first time, it was a “wow” experience. She was thrilled when her
parents were called on stage and were recognized in front of the whole organization.
She highlights the fact that personal aspirations of the champions are taken
into consideration during the rewards and recognition process.
This practice called “Champion’s Parental Awards” is definitely a deep morale booster.
Values which hold them together
Prathima says that they strongly
believe that every champion brings in lot of good energy. It can also be seen
in the core values of the organization. The values which are called 4P values stand for P – Positive energy, P- Prompt fulfillment, P- Personal development, P – Personal Integrity. The values are
very stimulating and thought provoking. The mission of the company stands for
“enabling growth” which is holistic growth in every sphere of personal,
professional, vendors and client development.
Growth clarity
Career path and growth which is
very well defined at the beginning allays most of the anxiety and fear and
helps the champions to bond together. The organization ventured into the
vertical of digital marketing which was a futuristic business a decade ago. The
clarity of the journey with the targets defined motivated the employees.
Prathima herself who was quite a newcomer then was motivated with the clarity
of journey ahead. Capability being the driving factor in the organization enables
one to attain high position in a short span of time. The person who can manages
the key result areas(kra) and the key performance area(kpa) can lead the role
with no barrier to age or gender.
Developing competency through training, mentorship
The growth of the new members is
nurtured through the process of training and mentoring. The senior achievers who
have surpassed the challenges mentor the new team members. The HRs also mentor
and interact with them on a 1 to 1 level. Feedback taken from the new champions
about their experiences in the organization helps a lot in shaping up the
career. This helps them to align to organizational goals. The learning from
training for seniors is implemented and helps them to move to the next level.
Hiring, training and developing the competencies though challenging definitely
surges the way to growth. There is an intervention whenever there is a drop of
performance and the root cause of the challenge is identified via
counselling/friendly advice/guide them from experts in that domain. It has been
found that people who are getting trained on a continuous basis are assets to
the organization. The retention rate is high.
Transparency
Transparency is one of the keys to
growth and is highly honored. Prathima quoted her own example saying that
nearly 5 years ago when her work ceased to excite her and she considered moving
out as an option. The open-door policy of the organization paved her to take
the step of being transparent. She went and discussed her situation with her
CEO who provided her an opportunity in their forthcoming project. She says she
took it up for fun, however she found the project very stimulating, interesting
and challenging. She had an opportunity of travelling extensively and eventually
got to know about the widespread culture of various states of India. It made a
huge difference to her growth curve. Internal attrition and being transparent works
well for the employees and organization.
“Self – motivation is the best medicine” quotes Pratima. She attributes her energy and vibrancy to
all the learnings and experiences in her work. It was evident in this short
interlude. I thank her immensely for her wonderful insights, time and her
sharing.
Well done sister, keep going
