Delivering Happiness -
motto of Milann, Head HR Vasudev P.K.
Milann, is the brainchild of Padmashree Dr. Kamini Rao. Milann started off as a single center
with 10 staff members and has now grown into a leading chain of fertility centers
in India. It has branched out to multi-cities in India and are venturing into
the international market as well. With a success rate of 95 – 98%, Milaan has
been provided excellence in quality care and IVF treatment to over 2,00,000
patients. Has entered into a strategic partnership with HCG Hospitals, few
years ago.
Harmony in the
Workplace
As part of the initiatives to promote harmony in the
workplace, Milann has instituted a process of competency mapping of all its
staffs ranging from doctors, nurses, gynaecologists, support staff, front
office staff and other departments. Such measures have helped in identifying
skill gaps, monitoring performance and improve the delivery mechanism.
Competency mapping is broadly divided into two parts – soft skills and technical
skills. Periodic evaluation of quality metrics identified for staff performance
helps the senior management to be proactive in implementing customer specific
initiatives. The trainings for different segments also are being implemented on
an on-going process.
Houses of colour - A novel
method
At Milann, to enable a vibrant and participatory work
environment, three groups are formed - the blue, green and purple houses - each
of which has equal participations of member staff of all departments. Such a
talent engagement platform, helps doctors, specialists, staff of all
departments to gain mutual respect and recognition. Talent promotional games
both in real space and online space are periodically organized. Such
initiatives while engaging the talents from all walks of life, also motivates
them to think and work as a team. Mr. Vasudev indicates the attrition levels
being as low as 3% is a clear sign of an enriching workplace environment. The workplace
is a hospital that caters to the "life-changing" treatment of its customers.
Work-Life balance - An
initiative that is core of business than a compliance
At Milann, the senior management is focused and has
identified work-life balance as a core part of its talent management policies.
Such initiatives have had considerable positive impact in all of its employees.
By maintaining an open office culture, the trust between the senior management
and the operations staff is maintained through mutual and frequent
dialogues/communication.
An employee satisfaction survey is conducted by the HR team
that helps understanding the skills of its employees, their approach to work
and through frequent discussions moderate the work standards and patient care.
Value system
More importantly, the value system of trust, speed and transparency
that has been defined and moderated by the senior management has helped improve
processes, manage internal and external relationships. Clinical audits by
internal and third-party sources have helped improve the standards of delivery
and improved patient care, which is what drives the business of Milann.
Milann, as part of its CSR Initiatives, organizes periodical
diagnostic camps for a larger customer base. This has garnered a lot of
good-will for its employees and the company.
I wish to thank Mr. Vasudev and the staff who were courteous
to complete the interview in their busy schedule foregoing their lunch. Wishing
the entire team of Milann a flourishing endeavor in the years to come.
