Work is worship. The need to reach on time every day to work
would push Sheena to spring from her bed as the alarm would buzz. Then rush to
the kitchen to fix up breakfast and pack lunch. Then take out some time for
exercise. Get ready and rush to the dining table. Breakfast would be done with
one eye on the watch and the other on the impending packing of the lunch box and
mentally calculating if she had picked up all the things. She was not at all
conscious of what she was feeding herself. Sometimes gobbling up looking at the
clock or holding few things in her hand as she ran towards the lift. Driving
her car she would realize that she did not eat the fruits which were on the
dining table. In the mad rush of traffic, she would completely forget that she
had to drink water.
By the time she reached office, she would be thinking of all the assignments she had to complete for the day. She was well praised by all her clients for taking care of all the minutest detail in her work. She worked hard to live up to that reputation. One day she felt sick and tired and had to take a few days off from the office. She looked at her frail body in the mirror and felt herself asking. For whom am I rushing every day to work like this? Whom am I pleasing? I am taking care of everything else apart from myself. Am doing all the work so that I can be happy and healthy. Looking at the mirror she told herself. At this moment am neither happy nor healthy? Where am I driving myself to every day like this? Isn’t this the gravest injustice I am doing to myself.
At this rate am burning myself out. For how long can I be productive if I kill myself like this little by little every day? All this was known to me but still, I am committing the same inhuman act of hurting myself. I need to care of my health, which in turn will help me to generate wealth. I am working hard not to pay the chemists and doctors. Am working so that I can be happy, healthy and relaxed with myself. Just realizing it when we fall sick is not enough. We need to work towards it every day to take care of our health.

These helpful tips can help
stay motivated and productive in and out of the office:
Being
calm and conscious during eating
Food is the fuel that
provides us the energy to work and come out with our creative best. We need to
respect our breakfast, lunch and dinner time. Keep the mobile aside while
eating. Consciously make it a point to eat in a relaxed and calm manner. Be
conscious of the food, quantity of food and also feel the food in your hands,
mouth as it passes through your throat. Just imagine that this is the input
that is going in which will help you to keep the body system alert, awake and
agile. Do not indulge in gulping or swallowing aimlessly. Respect and love each
morsel of food. Give food the attention that needs to be provided. Yes,
meetings, traffic, and all other things need to be prioritized but that doesn’t
mean that one has to be mean to the body. Be loving towards your food and see
the difference that it brings in your day-to-day activities. We spend a lot of
time in calls, on dressing up and on unnecessary thoughts. Let us start taking
out time for ourselves and see if we are doing justice to our eating time as
well. Whatever may be the situation, let us put the stress and tension aside and
focus on the energy-giving food which is right in front of us.
Make
reading a habit
Information access is very easy in this digital age. Too
much information is giving us a chance to get distracted easily. Make it a
point to read a book so that you are involved completely in reading. Find a
quiet place either at the office or at home and relax into the world of reading.
Reading is a healthy habit as it opens up a
wealth of possibilities for the reader. Gaining the right insight at any given
point of time is a blessing. Happy and healthy workplace will definitely have a
library so that the team can indulge in the world of books and thus making it a
regular reading habit. Few Productive offices tend to have teams that are in
the habit of reading.
Reading makes one feel psychologically good and it is found to have an impact on the productivity levels. It is found that all successful leaders have a habit of reading. Reading helps one to gain refreshing experience and visualize the author’s imaginative mind.

Be
receptive to new experiences
Be aware of what
you say when somebody invites you to a trek or to visit an adventurous place or
relocate to a new place of work. Most of the times I have observed people
saying “NO” to it unconsciously. When they delve deeper into their Nos, it is
found that only a few have valid reasons. The rest of them are still sticking
on to some unreasonable NO which was told in their childhood or to some flimsy
reason. Whenever a chance is provided to experience a new way of life, do grab
the opportunity and make the most of it. Do not let go of the opportunities
that life provides you in different instances. If fear or anxiety
is holding you back, take some time to look into the fear or anxiety and go
ahead in spite of all the reservations that are pulling you back. A positive
attitude in opening up the mind to newer experiences of life can help you to
discover a new you. It is surely one of the ways to keep life fulfilling in a
fun and exciting way.
